One year has passed. Max, who is now thirteen, and his friend Julia of the same age, experience a typical school day once again. The story is told in two versions.

In the negative version, the two children enter into new conflicts due to their poor behaviour.

Julia disobeys her mother and goes to school wearing a crop top in order to gain recognition. Max, whose parents are divorced, shoves people on the bus, cheats in a test and bullies a smaller boy in the playground for no apparent reason. On the class trip to a museum, even the teacher Mrs Elster can't prevent a theft from taking place. Towards the end, Max becomes an outsider.

The positive version shows the children in the same everyday situations. Here however, they know how to behave in a better manner. They show social competence and overcome their problems with the help of their teacher.
